Region 1 Celebrates Creative Unity at Sinnaranay 2 Summit

In celebration of Pangasinan Tourism Month and Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM), the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, together with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Economic Planning and Development, successfully conducted SINNARANAY 2: Creative Region One Summit on September 15-17, 2025.

SINNARANAY  2 is a multi-sectoral gathering that highlighted Region I’s creative economy and cultural vitality.

The summit opened with a ceremony led by the NCCA, featuring panel discussions, simultaneous workshops, and live performances. Activities were held across three venues: Sison Auditorium, PTDC II, and PSU Lingayen Campus – each serving as a vibrant hub for creative exchange and collaboration.

At the heart of the summit were two major components: the Second Region One Culture Conference (2nd ROCC), which explored the dynamic relationship between cultural heritage and economic growth; and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Culture and Arts Trainers’ and Instructors’ Summit 4 (CATIS 4), which enhanced the skills of R1 teachers and trainers in the protection, conservation, and preservation of local heritage, and arts using education and research.

Complementing the summit was a Creative Bazaar, organized in partnership with DTI. This curated marketplace featured select Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from across Region I, offering participants a vibrant glimpse into the region’s artisanal products, creative services, and cultural entrepreneurship.

Approximately 400 participants attended the summit, including representatives from local government units, academic institutions, MSMEs, the private sector, local artists and artisans, and culture and arts educators. Their presence underscored the region’s collective commitment to nurturing a thriving creative ecosystem.

The word “Sinnaranay,” rooted in Ilokano, speaks of mutual help, unity, and shared purpose, a fitting name for this gathering of minds and hearts from across Region I. More than a celebration of Pangasinan, the summit served as a celebration of the collective identity as a creative region, bringing together the region’s shared culture, creativity, and aspirations for the future.

SINNARANAY 2 reaffirmed Pangasinan’s role as a cultural and creative leader in Region I, paving the way for sustained collaboration, innovation, and inclusive growth. As the region continues to embrace its creative potential, the spirit of Sinnaranay will remain a guiding force, uniting communities, inspiring progress, and shaping a future rooted in culture and creativity.
