PTCAO Powers Skills Development for a Stronger Tourism Industry Through Dayëw 2025

Manpower has always been the backbone of the tourism industry. From the meticulous care in preparing linens to the warm smiles that greet every guest, the success of tourism relies on the dedication and skills of its workforce. Recognizing this, the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) believes that investing in students, the future leaders of tourism, is an investment in a more vibrant and globally competitive industry, not only for Pangasinan but for the entire country.

This vision to revitalize the Tourism Skills Competition has long been part of PTCAO’s agenda. It finally materialized through the establishment of the Association of Hospitality and Tourism Trainers, Educators, and Professionals of Pangasinan (AHTTEPP) in 2024.

In line with the provincial government’s thrust for a competitive and sustainable tourism sector, Dayëw 2025: The Pangasinan Province Tourism Skills Exposition was conceptualized and was conducted in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region I and TESDA Pangasinan Provincial Office, as part of the province’s celebration of Pangasinan Tourism Month last September. Anchored on the theme, “From Local Roots to Global Routes,” the event aimed to empower future tourism professionals and position Pangasinan as a hub for world-class skills. Originally scheduled for September 25-26, Dayëw 2025 was postponed as a joint decision by PTCAO and AHTTEPP due to unfavorable weather conditions. Prioritizing the safety of all participants, coaches, and stakeholders, the event was rescheduled to October 20-21, 2025.

This year’s exposition drew 230 participants from 24 participating institutions, competing in 15 competitions under three major clusters: Hospitality Skills Challenge, Culinary Skills Challenge, and Tourism Skills Challenge.
