Lingayen, Pangasinan—In observance of Araw ng Kagitingan and in celebration of National Literature Month, the Pangasinan Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) proudly presents Awaran—a commemorative e-magazine that honors the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of our war veterans.
Derived from the Pangasinan word for “history,” Awaran serves as a meaningful documentation of the 81st Lingayen Gulf Landings Anniversary and the 19th Pangasinan Veterans Day Celebration held last January 9, 2026 – two significant milestones that commemorate Pangasinan’s vital role in the country’s fight for freedom during the Second World War.
As the very ground where pivotal moments of World War II unfolded, Pangasinan stands as a living witness to the bravery of those who defended our freedom. Their heroism continues to echo through generations, reminding us of the strength and unity that forged our nation.
Through carefully curated narratives, photographs, and accounts, the publication preserves not only the events themselves but also the spirit of heroism that defines them. It captures not only the significance of these historic milestones but also the stories of their valor and resilience.
More than a publication, Awaran is a tribute of remembrance and gratitude. It preserves the voices of the past, celebrates the spirit of patriotism, and calls on us to carry forward the legacy of our heroes with pride and purpose.
May this e-magazine deepen our appreciation of our shared history, strengthen our sense of identity, and inspire us to honor the sacrifices that secured the peace we enjoy today.
