NCCA Conducts 2-Day Training Workshop on Music Ethnography for the Pangasinan Music Geography Project

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The Provincial Government of Pangasinan, through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, in partnership with National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through its National Committee on Music (NCMusic) under the Subcommission on the Arts (SCA), held a two-day workshop on Music Ethnography last January 30-31, 2023 at the Capitol Resort Hotel, Lingayen, Pangasinan.

The workshop aimed to equip project team, researchers, documenters, and select key informants with the proper knowledge and skills on music geography and ethnographic fieldwork methodologies. Said workshop was in preparation for Music Geography Project on folk and traditional music in Pangasinan and Bolinao languages.

The project entitled “Music Geography Project: Pangasinan Traditional and Folk Songs” is a grant by the NCCA. It aims to document the different folk and traditional songs in the province. Once completed, the project is deemed to significantly contribute to the conservation and preservation of traditional knowledge on Pangasinan music, and eventually, to the further development of culture and arts in the province.
